Summer At Last

The cool breeze wafted into my bedroom through the open window.  Birds chirped and fluttered through the air and the crisp, clean morning air made my bed chamber into a fairy tale scene.  My eyes slowly opened, taking in the light from the sun that seemed so lost.  Months had gone by when the sun was no where to be seen, but today it was there like a beacon to the world.  My mind raced as it took in the sounds and smells of the morning.  Another smell came floating into my room but not through my window.  My bedroom door hung ajar and through the small opening came the smell of pancakes and eggs, hash browns and bacon!!  A perfect morning!
I throw the covers off my bed, slide my feet into a pair of slippers and skip down the stairs.  Mother is standing in her PJ's at the stove, bacon sizzling away.  Pancakes are piled high on the table next to a large plate of scrambled eggs.  My father is sitting at the table buttering a slice of toast and smiling from ear to ear.  All though I hate to admit it, even my brothers were practically perfect.  They sat in their identical PJ's with identical smiles and poured maple syrup all over a stack of pancakes in front of them.
"Morning Kat!"  The boys yell.
"Morning!!  Smells great Mom!"  I come and sit across from my brothers and stack a few pancakes onto my plate.  Ty passes me the eggs.  "Thanks bud" He just smiles and hands a piece of bacon to the dog.  After breakfast I take walk outside and eventually I just fall onto my back in the grass, soaking up as much sun as I can.  I close my eyes and let the rays of light dance on my skin.  This morning is by far the best morning ever!!!

My eyes snap open and I'm laying in bed, sunlight shining through my window and the smell of bacon in the air.  Birds flying and singing in the clean morning air.

What a perfect dream to start a perfect day.  I think as I hear the twins yelling over a piece of bacon down stairs.  I smile to myself, Yep, this is heaven all right!  And I meant it.
